Blog Happenings!

Hello there! I know that today around here is usually Recipe Day but being that we were gone on vacation for a little over a week and I quickly jumped back to the work grind, there is no recipe to share with you. Frankly, I have not cooked a solid meal or really made anything myself besides a PB & J since almost two weeks ago!!! Not to say I haven't had anything more satiating than a mom and pop PB & J is not the truth, I just haven't had to slave in the kitchen myself for it.

I did post today a re-cap of our vacation touring through the Northwestern, Lake Michigan coast of the mitten state. You can check that out here.

Since I have been behind in the normal routine over here I did want to give you a little heads up of what is to come on Perfectly Scrubbed.

  • Like I mentioned before, if you haven't checked out my vacation summary, go check it out now!
  • I will also be doing a post that shares our day spent on Mackinac Island too! You might just fall a little bit in love with Michigan (if you are not from here) or a little bit more (if you are!)
  • Be sure to watch out for a collaboration post (or two actually) that I will be doing with Our World Boutique highlighting one of their fabulous poncho tops AND a stunning petals and sparkle necklace!!!
  • I still plan on showing you guys around my room transformation as I turned a spare bedroom in to my own walk-in closet (just waiting for the curtains to be hung!!)
  • Next Tuesday I promise to be back at it and have a recipe to share with all of you!

I am super excited about what I have in store for you coming up on the blog and I hope that you will stop on back and check them out!

Is there anything that you would like to see on Perfectly Scrubbed!?!? If so, please let me know!

Have a great day!

Northern Michigan Trip--- July 2014: Parts 1 & 3

You may have noticed a bit of a lull in the blog action over here and that is because my husband and I went on a week long vacation, road tripping our way through parts of Northern Michigan.

Many of you may already know that the reason I started blogging was a creative outlet for me as my husband starts grad school this fall. This trip was probably the last "big" vacation that we will take until he is done with school. We had so much fun and saw some great sights! I would love to share a re-cap of our week with you!

**Here is a map of Michigan and I attempted to map out
a little trail of where we traveled!

I decided to just to the first and last parts of our trip in this post and I will be doing a whole post later dedicated to our trip to Mackinac Island.

First we started out celebrating the 4th of July holiday weekend with my family camping in
Gladwin, MI. We floated out on the pond, had bonfires and fireworks, played card and lawn games, and even watched an outdoor movie.

< br />

From there we spent three nights in Interlochen. This was a perfect location as we visited the Glen Arbor area (where Sleeping Bear Dunes is located), as well as, Leland, Northport, and Traverse City.

Leland, MI (Lake Leelanau): One of my favorite places of the trip!!!

Northport Harbor area.

Traverse City: Wine & Spirits Tasting.

We then traveled to Pellston, MI where stayed for two nights. On our way there we stopped at one of my favorite breweries, Short's Brewing Company. We also stopped in Petoskey which is located along Lake Michigan. They had a super cute downtown area!

Short's.

Petoskey.

Our last part of the trip was spent in Charlevoix. We again enjoyed Lake Michigan as well as Lake Charlevoix. They were having an event so we got to see many cool boats come in and out of the harbor area.

Charlevoix.

Have you taken any vacations this summer!?!?
If so, where to!??

Thanks for checking out our vacation!
I loved our time away!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Happy 4th of July {2014}!!!

The 4th of July is definitely one of my favorites to celebrate! There are so many fun things I think of when it comes to this long, holiday weekend: being with family, camping, BBQs and cookouts, fireworks, sparklers, lawn games, and everything else that is 'Merica!
Then I started thinking about what the holiday meant to me and I feel blessed. Being truly free and able to have a celebration (with family and friends) on this calendar day every year is not something every person gets to experience. I am very thankful for the road that our country has traveled to get to the point of freedom and for the men and women who still defend that right to the present day.
Let us celebrate this fourth with a grateful heart and not forget the little things that we may take for granted every day.

Breakfast (or anytime) Quesadillas

Last week I had bought some chicken sausage at the Farmer's Market and could not wait to try it out. Sometimes to make weeknight meals a little easier we have to switch things up around here, for instance having breakfast for dinner! When I thought of the idea of breakfast quesadillas to use the chicken sausage, I was excited. Boy did they turn out yummy!

Ingredients:

1 package of chicken sausage
5 eggs
1 green pepper, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1 small tomato, chopped
package of crumbled goat cheese
package of tortillas
salt and pepper, to taste

How to:

1. Cook sausage in pan until browned, breaking in to pieces.
2. Break eggs in pan and scramble up with sausage. Cook until done.
3. Pre-heat panini maker.
4. Take tortilla and layer sausage/egg mixture, then peppers, onions, and tomatoes on one half of the tortilla.
5. Sprinkle on goat cheese. Add salt and pepper to taste.
6. Fold over quesadilla. Place on panini maker until slightly browned and warmed.
7. Enjoy!

Do you like to make your favorite breakfast dishes for dinner sometimes!??
What is your favorite?
